Prior to retirement in 2018, I spent 40 years working for the YMCA. 26 years with the Ys in Cedar Falls, Waterloo IA and Springfield MO. My final 14 years were with the YMCA of the USA, Chicago IL.

In 1973, I married Nancy Shafer and in 2023, will celebrate 50 years together! With 2 grown children, we are blessed with 5 grandchildren! In 1975, I received my B.S in Education degree from Northwest Missouri State University.

I volunteer my time as President, High School Athletic Booster Club, and President, Fairfield Golf and Country Club. I am actively involved with Word of Life Lutheran Church and lead a Men's morning devotional. I am currently coordinating our Country Club Foundation's Capital Campaign to raise $750,000.

In ‘rewirement’, I own Weaton A.C.T. Consulting/Coaching, LLC as an executive coach, consultant, and motivational speaker.

I enjoy golfing, boating, anything Iowa Hawkeyes and watching our grandchildren's grow up.

My personal life statement: When you were born, you cried, and the world rejoiced! Live your life in such a way that, when you die, the world will cry, and you rejoice!

School Story

Growing up in Fort Dodge holds many great memories. Best friends Greg/Bev Baedke, Ivan/Denny Thede and Rick/Sue Schill remained lifelong friends. Scouting and Fellowship of Christian Athletes were a big part of my life. Victor and Wayne Gordon and First Baptist Church helped me lay a faith foundation. The YMCA was 'the' place to hang out. Church League Basketball. Kings Food Host after ball games, the Jolly Giant in the summer and EXPO pool. And the largest class ever to graduate from Fort Dodge Senior High! I even believe we held the national record a few years for the number of sets of twins - 11? What a life we had! THANK YOU, CLASS, OF '71. Forever grateful.
